I am interested in the melody and melodies created by Johann Sebastian Bach. I'm interested in their characteristics of all sorts (curvilinear, harmonic, tonal, contrapuntal, etc. etc.). I'm interested in what factors determine their quality, their distinction, their overall esthetic value, etc. I'm interested in comparing Bach's melodic designs, types, styles, etc. with those of other prominent Western composers. I'm of the opinion that Bach is not only one of the greatest harmonists, contrapuntists, and other determinative qualities, in short that he is among the very greatest of Western composers up to and including the present, eleventh century, but in particular the supreme melodist of all time, and how he accomplished this feat. You get the idea, folks. Please jump in with any and all ideas, suggestions, references, etc.
